These
guidelines have been adapted from the WHO GPA Guidelines on Clinical
Management of HIV infections in adults. WHO estimates that 3.5 million adults
in South-East Asia are already affected and thousands of children are being born with the
infection. To meet this need guidelines have been adapted to each region at level of the
district within constraints of the existing health and social services. It is a low-cost
approach to treatments and clinical tests to benefit as many patients as possible.
